Located just South of Tulum on the Yucatan Peninsula, Sian Ka´an is a UNESCO World Heritage site and Biosphere Reserve. The principle of any UNESCO Biosphere Reserve is to foster a balanced relationship between people and nature.
“Sian Ka´an” meaning “where the sky is born” is a unique natural attraction to visit in Mexico.
The Reserve contains more tan 1.2 million acres of estuaries, reefs, cenotes and wetlands within the park. You can take tours of the local wildlife, fishing trips, take part in a diving/snorkeling tour or simply just walk around the beautiful and expansive park.
The Reserve offers privacy and seclusion from busy beaches, mass tourism has not reached Sian Ka´an yet. It is one of the few places where you can get up close with wildlife and nature of the Rivera Maya although it is close enough to Tulum´s wild range of restaurants, boutiques, beach joints and full moon parties.
